Applications for the Itrax instruments include studies of changes along sediment cores, rock cores and wood samples, but also of materials like speleothem, corals and more.

A wide field of application of the Itrax Corescanner is for paleoclimatic reconstructions, based on analysis of split sediment cores. Follow the Sediment link to the left for more information about sediment applications.

Rock core analysis include sediment studies, changes in mineral composition and detection of metals like Au, U and Platinum Group Elements.

Wood density is a field of application where density images are used to determine parameters like year ring width and maximum density in each year ring. Follow the Wood link to the left for more information about wood applications.
